I tried makeup for a while in college but I could tell it was actually making my dysphoria *worse* because I’d feel alright about myself but then take it off at the end of the day and I’d see my face without makeup and suddenly be hit by how ugly I felt without it and I was like oh. this doesn’t seem healthy. so I swore it off and threw it all out and now my bare face doesn’t really bother me anymore. I want to feel good about myself at all hours of the day, actually

never not going to be strange to me how romeo and juliet can literally be the most famous shakespeare play and a really frightening percentage of people completely miss the point.
it’s not romeo’s fault. it’s not juliet’s. they didn’t die because they were stupid and horny and dramatic and made bad decisions. it’s not tybalt’s or mercutio’s. they all died because their parents and the other people with power in their lives (cough cough escalus) did nothing actually helpful and blamed the problems ON THE POWERLESS YOUNG PEOPLE. BY BLAMING THE KIDS YOU ARE SIDING WITH THE BAD GUYS.
the villains of the story aren’t the children stabbing themselves and drinking poison because they have nobody to help them. they aren’t the young men dying in the streets for a fight that means nothing, to defend the honor of people that only use their deaths as ammunition against the enemy. the villains are the people that can stop it, and don’t, and then act shocked when tragic things happen, and use it as political leverage to keep stoking the fires of hatred against their enemies.
i had a dream this morning that the newest thing was that when you changed the channel on the TV you’d get a text that said “we noticed you changed the channel! would you mind giving us a rating?” with a link and then if you turned off the TV you’d get another that said “did you mean to turn off the TV? we miss you!” and i really don’t think we’re far off from that
